We offer a unique, wood-fired sauna experience in the heart of Hove, tucked away in the beautiful garden of Flat Out coffee shop.
What gets us hot
Authentic Wood-Fired Heat
Unlike most urban saunas that use electric heaters, we use a traditional wood-burning stove. This creates a softer, more atmospheric heat that is a truly unique experience.
A Hidden Urban Oasis
You can't find us on a busy street. Our location in a coffee shop garden gives you a peaceful retreat from the city. Enjoy a coffee before or after your session, all in one spot.
A Sense of Community
We are a small, personal business. Our focus is on creating a welcoming and inclusive space where everyone feels like they belong. You’ll feel the difference from the moment you step in.

Booking & Arriving
-
We're your new favourite urban oasis, tucked away in the beautiful garden of Flat Out coffee shop (59 Church Road, Hove BN3 2BD). Grab a delicious coffee, then wander out back to find your heat and find your calm.
-
We know life can be a bit of a beach sometimes! You can reschedule or receive a full refund for any cancellations made more than 48 hours before your session time. Unfortunately, bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the session will be charged in full.

Our opening hours can vary with the seasons. The most up-to-date session times will always be on our booking calendar, so please check there when you book.
-
Our sauna is a lovely, sociable space that seats up to 8 people. It's perfect for sharing the good vibes with friends, old and new
What to bring & wear
-
Great question! To have the best experience, we recommend you bring:
Swimwear: This is essential for using the sauna.
Two towels: One to sit on inside the sauna (it's good etiquette!) and one for drying off.
A bottle of water: Hydration is key!
A changing robe or comfy clothes: These are perfect for wearing to and from the sauna area, especially if you need to pop to the loo.
A bag for your wet items: Better to not get a soggy bag!
Flip-flops or sliders: Handy for walking around the garden area.
Proof of age: If you are lucky enough to be gifted with youthful looks we may need to check, as all guests must be 16 or over
-
Please wear swimwear at all times. Our vibe is relaxed and communal, but nudity is not permitted. Also, a top tip: remove any hanging jewellery before you go in, as metal can get extremely hot!
Facilities & On-site info
-
We're a rustic-style garden escape, so we don't have dedicated indoor changing rooms. We recommend arriving "beach-ready" with your swimwear on under your clothes. We have shared changing areas, for when you have finished your session.
You can use the toilets at Flat Out, but you must be properly towelled off and wearing suitable clothing to go inside – swimwear alone isn't permitted in the main café area.
-
We have an area where you can leave your things, but as we're an open, communal space, we don't have lockers. Please only bring essentials with you. All personal belongings are left at your own risk.
-
Yes, please do! Flat Out is our wonderful home. However, to keep things hygienic and comfortable for everyone, access to the café is not permitted during your sauna session. Before you head inside for a post-sauna treat, make sure you are fully dressed – clothing must be worn at all times in the café's indoor areas.
-
Yes, we have plenty of drinking water available, but we do encourage you to bring your own full water bottle, as well, to stay hydrated throughout your session.
-
If you think you've left something, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Any items left behind will be kept for one week before being donated to a local charity.
Sauna safety & etiquette
-
Absolutely! We’re thrilled you’re starting your journey with us. We recommend sessions of 5-15 minutes to start with. The most important thing is to listen to your body. Our sauna is wood-fired and gets very hot, so don't push yourself. And please, for your safety, never touch the stove, rocks, or flue!
-
To keep our sauna lovely and clean for everyone, please do not bring any of your own products, essential oils, or scrubs to use inside.
-
Sorry, but our sauna is a alcohol-free zone. No alcohol, smoking, or vaping is allowed in or around the sauna area to ensure a safe and relaxing experience for everyone. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who appears intoxicated, and no refund will be given.
-
Yes, you must be 16 years or older to use the sauna, plunge pool, or cold shower. There are no exceptions to this rule.
-
Your health is the top priority. The use of our sauna and cold plunge facilities is entirely at your own risk. If you have any pre-existing health conditions (such as pregnancy, heart conditions, high/low blood pressure, or asthma), we strongly recommend you consult your GP before booking.
